Children & Youth at Ascension

Children and youth are welcome to be full participants in worship, education, and fellowship.

Nursery Care

The nursery is a large room with huge windows equipped with toys, books, a changing table, and rocking chair. A child sized restroom is located next to the nursery. Our experienced caregiver is committed to providing a safe, clean, loving, and playful environment.

Schedule

Nursery care is available for infants through age five just before the start of the 9am service through Café (8:45-11am). Parents and guardians are encouraged to bring their child from the nursery into the sanctuary for communion.

Procedures

When you bring your child to the nursery, please remember to:

  1. Share any special needs or concerns you or your child may have including food allergies or medical issues.
  2. Provide a labeled diaper bag with extra disposable diapers, fresh clothes and any bottles, drinks or snacks your child will need.
  3. Bring your child to church in a clean, dry diaper.
  4. Sign in your child and assist with his or her transition into the nursery as requested.

In the Case of Illness

Please keep your child home if he or she has exhibited any signs of illness in the past 24 hours. This is to provide a safe, healthy nursery for all our children.

Sunday School & Youth Group

This is an area of hopeful growth for Ascesnion.

Currently, we have a monthly Family Sunday School in which the entire parish family participates in stations around a specific topic such as Fruits of the Spirit or Thankfulness. Some stations are activities to be completed at church, most are activites to take home and do as a family.

Safeguarding our Children

The Episcopal Church is very serious about protecting our children from harm, including from sexual abuse. To protect our children the Episcopal Diocese of Idaho implemented a Code of Sexual Ethics and Professional Conduct in 2011. Copies of this code may be downloaded here. To train our volunteers and staff we use the "Safeguarding God's Children" program developed jointly by the Church Pension Group and Praesidium Inc. This training serves to educate volunteers and ministries to keep children, and youths safe from sexual abuse while at church or church related activities.
